Sustainability Achievements

 

The CTICC has a strong commitment to maintaining our work processes to internationally recognized system standards. In line with this, the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) has accredited the CTICC with the following standards:

  • ISO 9001 Quality Management System
  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
  • OHSAS 18001 (BS) Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHS)

 

The CTICC was the first convention centre in Africa to have its work processes certified by ISO.

 

The centre holds the SANS 10330 Certification for HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and follows principles as set out for food hygiene and safety. The CTICC has achieved a Mobility Level 3 with 91% for Universal Access I the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa’s Universal Accessibility audit.

 

The CTICC has also received:

  • AIPC Gold certification;
  • 5-Star grading (Tourism Grading Council of South Africa)

 

Sustainability Awards

The CTICC has won the following awards for its sustainability commitments:

 

2015 & 2016:

  • Received commendation for best practice in the field of sustainability from the Global Association of the Exhibitions Industry (UFI) in the Sustainable Development Awards

2013:

  • Received Best Sustainability Reporting Award from the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) in the Sustainable Development Awards
  • Received Best Overall Environmental Management System Award in the Imvelo Awards for Responsible Tourism

2012

  • Finalist in the Best Practice Environmental Impact category in the Imvelo Awards for Responsible Tourism
  • Finalist in the category Energy Efficiency Program: Commercial End-User in the Platts Global Energy Awards
  • Received commendation for efforts in sustainability, recycling and climate change from Enviropaedia in the Ecological Awards
