CTICC celebrates GED locally, in a global way

The CTICC’s Executive Committee: Craig Barrington (GM: Operations and Facilities), Robert Hatton-Jones (GM: Commercial and Business Development), Wayne De Wet (Chief Financial Officer), Julie-May Ellingson (Chief Executive Officer), and Tracy Mkhize (GM: Operations – Food & Beverage).

Annually, Global Exhibitions Day (GED) is celebrated on the first Wednesday of June. This year was no exception and the CTICC’s focus was to highlight and celebrate the industry with its exhibition clients. GED is an initiative of UFI, the Global Association of Exhibition Industry.

The day highlights work done in the exhibitions sector, the effective and sustainable way the sector does business, its global contribution, and the employment opportunities it creates.

To highlight the importance of the global exhibitions sector, the CTICC paid a visit to some of its Cape Town-based exhibition clients.

These included the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon Expo, Spar, African Utility Week, Cape Homemakers Expo, Cape Premier Yearling Sale, and Property Buyers Expo.

Travelling with a life-sized selfie frame, CTICC Business Development Manager: National, Adele Eloff, and CTICC Marketing Graduate, Jaydon Valentine, delivered sweet treats to its clients.

“Exhibitions bring in thousands of visitors not only to the CTICC but to the city of Cape Town, and allow the general public to connect with experts in their fields to learn about topics from gaming to property to sports. Highlighting the exhibitions sector on Global Exhibition Day illustrates the important role the sector plays within our economy,” said Julie-May Ellingson, Chief Executive Officer at the CTICC.

In the financial year 2017/18, the CTICC hosted 11 exhibitions which attracted over 170 000 people.
