Journey of Enrichment

Originally started as a feeding scheme in Cape Town’s Bo-Kaap community, Journey of Enrichment’s vision is to Feed the Body, Enhance the Mind, and Empower the People.

This encompasses more than food security, allowing the organisation to uplift communities and restore dignity through outreach projects, education and sport.

Their mission is:

“To extend our reach beyond food supply and to empower our societies in order to enable them to live their most optimal, self-sufficient lives and create the best future for younger generations through education and life skills.”

The CTICC works with Journey of Enrichment by supporting and donating to their food-related campaigns. We contribute to their initiatives in the following ways:

Food for Change

We supported their Food for Change event, which fed 1 000 people. At this initiative, staff put on their aprons and helped out by cooking and serving food.

Africa Day

In celebration of Africa Day, 25 May, the CTICC partnered with Journey of Enrichment to run a Food Parcel Drive for families in need. CTICC created a mailer sent to all staff and CTICC suppliers to support the drive by donating non-perishable food items and donating their time to help the organisation produce the food parcels.

On Africa Day the staff, suppliers and Journey of Enrichment gathered in Exhibition Hall 4 to volunteer their time to pack the 116 food parcels which were handed to Journey of Enrichment towards their drive. The organisation distributed the parcels to less fortunate families within the Cape Town region.

Earth Day

On Earth Day we initiated a collaboration between Journey of Enrichment and another of our local community partners, Abalimi Bezekhaya. Journey of Enrichment’s partner school, Mitchells Plain Primary School, got a new urban vegetable garden for Earth Day, courtesy of Abalimi Bezekhaya, who we partnered with to provide them with gardening services and tutorials to help the school look after the garden. We also provided the school with gardening goods and participants with refreshments as they gardened.
