Mothers Unite

To embrace children holistically by providing nutritional, educational and emotional support, as well as positive
alternatives to anti-social behaviour.

Their mission is:

We collaborate with Mothers Unite to provide support to mothers and children. Through the partnership, we have assisted in creating income generation opportunities alongside the NGO.

As a partner, we help create opportunities for Mothers Unite with our clients where possible and utilise their products for relevant initiatives within the CTICC. Recent contributions include the following awareness campaigns and interventions:

AfricaCom Recycling Initiative

The CTICC hosted the 20th AfricaCom Conference and Exhibition – a high-profile Africa-focused technology event. The client was aware that the event had a large carbon footprint and wanted to work with us to offset this by engaging in environmental and social sustainability initiatives.

The outcome of this collaboration created shared value for all parties. Mothers Unite took delivery of the wood ‘waste’ generated by from the exhibition stands being broken down. We donated five skips of wood, which was used for carpentry – making items to sell – as well as for home improvement purposes. Effectively lowering the events carbon footprint and creating income generating possibilities for Mothers Unite.

Mother's Unite accepted the wood from AfricaCom 2017 to be used in community projects

Earth Day Initiative

Mothers Unite runs sewing workshops for women, empowering them to earn additional income and thus creating jobs in the community.

We saw this an opportunity to partner with Mothers Unite by utilising their skills to fulfil our 2018 plastic reduction theme and internal communications drive. The CTICC supplied MothersUnite with the fabric and branded badges required to create fabric shopper bags which were then distributed to our staff on Earth Day.

This initiative created shared value by allowing us to purchase bags while utilising the sewing skills offered by our community partner and generating income for Mothers Unite beneficiaries.
