Meet Monica Nonkasana, Senior Guest Relations Officer

Say hello to Monica Nonkasana, one of the most familiar and warmest faces at the CTICC. As a Senior Guest Relations Officer in our Operations Department, Monica brings over 20 years of experience, heart, and dedication to her role. Originally from De Aar in the Northern Cape, Monica was headhunted by then-Confex and Exhibition Manager Peter Matthews—and the rest, as they say, is history. With an unwavering commitment to service, Monica continues to leave lasting impressions on every guest and delegate she meets.

Q: Please share a bit about your background. Where are you from and how did your journey bring you to the CTICC?
I was born in De Aar, Northern Cape, and was headhunted to work at the CTICC by Peter Matthews. That opportunity opened the door to a long and fulfilling career here.

Q: How long have you been at the CTICC?
I’ve proudly served for 20 years.

Q: What does a typical day in your role look like?
It’s a mix of guest interactions, problem-solving, and admin. Every day requires focus, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to customer service.

Q: What inspired you to pursue this career?
Although I was headhunted into the role, my passion lies in enhancing guest experiences and ensuring every visitor leaves with a lasting impression.

Q: Can you share a memorable moment from your time here?
One standout moment was being selected to travel to Rwanda with my line manager and our COO—a true highlight and personal achievement.

Q: What do you find most rewarding in your role?
Creating memorable guest experiences, solving problems, and receiving positive feedback all make my role incredibly fulfilling.

Q: Who inspires you and why?
Myself—I believe in being my own motivation and striving to be better every day.

Q: What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?
I love shopping, travelling, and dining out—life is all about experiences!

Q: What are your future goals at the CTICC?
As I near retirement, my personal goal is to travel and enjoy the world.
